Full-Frame Window Replacement
Full-Frame Window Replacement in Buffalo
When the frame itself has failed, an insert will not save it. Full-frame replacement removes the entire old window down to the rough opening, including the frame, sill, and old flashing. That exposes any rot or water damage in the framing so it gets repaired before a single new unit goes in. It is the right method for the older wood-framed windows common in Black Rock and along Delaware Avenue, and the only way to change a window size or fix a leaking opening properly.
Why Full-Frame Instead of an Insert
An insert (pocket) replacement only works when the existing frame is sound and square. Buffalo winters and decades of water take that soundness away. If we find rotted framing, failed flashing, or an opening that is out of square, an insert would just seal the problem inside the wall. Full-frame lets us correct the rough opening, add proper flashing under IRC R703, and set a new unit that seals tight against a January wind.
Our Process
We measure the real opening, not the ideal one, then remove the old window to the studs. We repair any damaged framing, install new flashing tape and expanding foam insulation, and set your new vinyl or fiberglass unit with warm-edge spacers and low-E, argon-filled glass. Then we finish the interior and exterior trim so the job looks original to the house on the 14201 West Side or anywhere else.
